Rosa D Cheney AIA, PLLC developed construction specifications for Core Group PC on the 600 Massachusetts Avenue project located in Washington, DC. The project consists of the excavation for and new construction of a 10-story, 375,000 SF core and shell office building with a below-grade concourse level and 3 levels of below-grade parking. The exterior materials consist of unitized curtainwall glazing, composite metal panels, brick veneer, and stone cladding. The primary roof is occupied and is covered with a vegetated roof and roof pavers. Interior construction includes fire-resistive glazing at the double-height lobby as well as materials and finishes in the first floor lobby, typical floor elevator lobbies, toilet rooms and other core rooms. Unique construction includes an exterior glass-floor-bridge spanning a water feature at the building entrance.
The project also includes renovation of relocated, Historic Townhomes for office use, built to a “cold, dark shell” level of completion, including new structural floors to support office loads, maintenance of the existing masonry exterior walls, new wood windows and doors, and new roofing.
The project is pursuing a Platinum certification per LEED CS v2.0.
Construction is anticipated to begin in late 2013 or early 2014.
